THE Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) has announced a three-year DAE in Sugar, Textile and Computer Information Technology at Government Polytechnic Institute (GPI), Kamalia, from September 2010.

It was claimed that all necessary arrangements had been made to start the programme, and a number of 150 students would be admitted to each technology.

The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of Development Committee of Technical Education and Vocational Training Company (TEVTC) chaired by its Chairman Saeed Ahmad Alvi. The meeting was attended by Khalid Rafiq, CEO, Habib Rafique (Pvt) Ltd, Ibrahim Qureshi, CEO Raffles, Shaikh Farooq, Advisor (Projects) TEVTA, Col (r) Javaid Iqbal, General Manager (Academics), and other officers of the Company.

Saeed Ahmad Alvi said technologies were being started with the consultation of local industry, adding the building of GPI Kamalia was in the final stage. The equipment/machinery has also been procured which will be installed before the starting of the session in September, 2010. He said Rs 127.520 millions had been allocated in Phase-II revised scheme to meet the deficiency to procure equipment/machinery for sugar and textile technology.

Chairman TEVTC also informed that the DAE in Electronics, Dress Designing & Making (DDM) and Computer Information were also being started at Government Polytechnic Institute for Women, Narowal, from September, 2010. This institute is being established under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for which Rs 168.579 millions had been allocated.
