Boondh – A Drop of Jal
After three years "Jal the band" is back in the scene with their second album "Boondh-Adrop of Jal". The album comprises of 12 songs, mostly slow numbers. The album has been mixed and mastered by Mekaal Hassan.
The must listen songs of the album are "Sajni", "Humain itna pyaar", "Main Mastt hoon" (Dhamaal), "Mahiya" and "Payal". They stand out because they are "a-bit" different from Jal's style of music which was seen in their maid-in album, "Aadat."
The album starts off with "Sajni," a striking song and an unusual video based on the concept of "Beauty & the Beast." Outstanding direction and graphics have been given by Bilal Lashari. The charismatic song and eye catching VDO, go well together. "Kia sey kia" (written by Farhan Saeed Butt) and "Raatein" are some songs that don't go with Jal's standard of music. They lack the "X-factor" and perfection which are present in others songs of the album. The lyrics are bi scrawny and melody not that mesmerizing. "Chup Chup" is the next vastly praised and appreciated song after "Sajni", it is close to the acoustic style of Jal. Unlike Jal's last album, this album has a nice patriotic number, "Yeah mera Pakistan" whose VDO release can be expected on March 23rd or August 14th, 2008. "Main Mastt hoon" is the Dhamaal of the album. Goher Mumtaz, himself has written, composed and arranged the Dhamaal and did not copy it from any ancient Sufi kalaams like other bands. Jal's dhamaal has an identity of its own and is an embodiment of professional good music. This is Jal's maid-in Punjabi number.
All in all, the new album is worth listening to. The band has experimented on their style of music in order to bring out new chic and variety of music for their fans and music lovers. Farhan's superior vocals, Goher's awe-inspiring guitaring and simple lyrics and Shazi's bass, together have made the album "brillianto."
So, all Jalholics get your Boondh pronto!
