Dr. Laura Ending Radio Show
Dr. Laura Schlessinger is ending her radio show when her contract expires at the end of the year.
The Huffington Post reports that the radio personality announced her decision on CNN’s “Larry King Live” Tuesday, explaining, “I’ve made the decision not to do radio anymore. The reason is I want to regain my First Amendment rights.”
Schlessinger has been under fire for uttering the N-word several times while making a point about racism to a minority caller last week.
Schlessinger told King, “I want to be able to say what’s on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I’m sort of done with that.”
The radio personality says she’s not retiring but will refocus her energy on writing and speaking engagements.
