Year 2011 proved to be a big year for Bollywood because 7 films crossed the business of 100 crores in the same year that is the sign of tremendous growth and appreciation for everyone in Bollywood. 2 films proved to be blockbusters, Another 3 were mega hits, almost a dozen movies went hits and a dozen proved to be average to semi hit movies. No 1 – Bodyguard [Worldwide business: 230 Crores]

Director: Siddique

The first made the record even from its day one by doing the business of 22 crores worldwide. Having an ordinary story, Bodygaurd got success only because of the chemistry between Kareena Kapoor and Salman Khan, item number of Katrina Kaif and power-packed performance by Salman Khan

 

No 2 – Ra.One [Worldwide business: 210 Crores]

Director: Anubhav Sinha

After Asoka this is the second attempt from Shah Rukh Khan to attempt a superhero avatar and he succeeded in it to some extent although the movie was not liked by critics.

 

No 3 – Ready [Worldwide business: 180 Crores]

Director: Anees Bazmee

This Romantic Comedy was liked by all type of audiences because of the twisting story, the high comedy factor and of course ‘Salman Khan‘. Having more than two dozen of the characters in the film director did not loose the grip on the script and audiences enjoy this movie a lot.

 

No 4 – Don 2 [Worldwide business: expected 160 Crores]

Director: Farhan Akhtar

Style and Charisma are the high points of the film. Audiences can witness the new storyline in the second half especially unlike Don. This movie did not break any big records in the initial days but its business was stable even after the first weekend that shows its good response.

 

No 5 – Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara [Worldwide business: 152 Crores]

Director: Zoya Akhtar

Mainly shot in Spain, Hrithink Roshan and Katrina Kaif were highlights of the film. The story of the film revolves around 4 friends  including one female to do the tour of the worls and how they have fun in their journey. It had tremendous youth appeal.

 

No 6 – The Dirty Picture [Worldwide business: 115 Crores]

Director: Milan Luthria

Being a low budget film and no presence of superstar hero film was never expected to fetch such a fantastic start in the beginning but the hot acting of Vidya Balan made the impossible possible. Film did almost 50 crores of business on its first week only.

 

No 7 – Singham [Worldwide business: 112 Crores]

Director: Rohit Shetty

If we call it the rip-off of Dabangg, we will not be considered wrong. Singham was based on the same formula as of Dabangg and instead of all that it proved to be a hit and made everyone surprised

 

No 8 – Murder 2 [Worldwide business: 90 Crores]

Director: Mohit Suri

Great Musical score, sensuous story, horror factor and Emraan Hashmi were the factors that made this medium budget film a high earning point for the Mahesh Bhatt.

 

No 9 – Delhi Belly [Worldwide business: 88 Crores]

Director: Abhinay Deo

With the tremendous youth appeal, A Rating and the name of Aamir Khan associated with it, this movie was made a medium low budget but earned a lot of acclaim and money for its producers.

 

No 10 – Mere Brother Ki Dulhan [Worldwide business: 82 Crores]

Director: Imtiaz Ali

The film got high critical acclaim. Ali ZafarKatrina Kaif and Imran Khan were highly appreciated. Although this movie was  declared a hit and the business tells another story.
