THE City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has banned the entry of animal carts on Ferozpur Road from Mozang Chungi to Chungi Amarsadhu on Thursday.

Officials said the ban was imposed by Administrator Lahore Sajjad Bhutta in a meeting held to discuss smooth flow of traffic on Ferozpur Road.

The district coordination officer also visited Ferozpur Road to witness the traffic problems.

Officials said according to the new order, animal carts, including donkey-cart, horse-cart, ox-cart and Tonga, could enter Ferozpur Road and could only use service lanes on both sides of Ferozpur Road from 11.00pm. till 6.00am.

They said no animal cart could enter the Ferozpur Road or its service lanes from 11.00am in the morning till 11.00pm. It is pertinent to mention here that a large number of donkey-carts and other animal carts used to ply on Ferozpur Road because of fruit and vegetable market at Ferozpur Road overhead bridge, Ichra wooden furniture market and sanitary fitting shops at Rehmanpura.

The Administrator has directed the traffic police to ensure implementation on the decision while special teams have also been constituted to take action against the violators.
