Bail Cancelled In Kidnap Case
THE Lahore High Court on Monday cancelled the bail of Shahid Malik, accused of abetting model Sofia Mirza’s ex husband in kidnapping and taking her two minor daughters out of the country.
Sessions court had granted bail to Malik and Sofia had challenged it in the LHC.
Sofia’s counsel Shazab Masood advocate submitted that accused Malik had facilitated Umar Farooq, the husband of Mirza, in kidnapping the minors. He said Farooq was abroad when Malik kidnapped the minors and sent them abroad to the residence of Farooq. He said being the main accused in the kidnapping, he did not deserve the right of bail. After hearing the arguments, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry cancelled Shahid Malik’s bail and police officials arrested him outside the courtroom.
On July 06, Deputy Attorney General Naveed Inayat Malik informed the court that former husband of model Khusbakht Mirza, aka Sofia Mirza, had been arrested and twin minor daughters of Sofia were also recovered from his custody in Dubai. He informed the court during the hearing of a habeas corpus petition filed by Mirza for recovery of her daughters Zainab and Zunaira.
The court was also informed that the accused and both minors would be produced before the Supreme Court as the case was pending there.
According to details, FIA had informed the court that Umar Farooq escaped abroad along with the minors on forged passports and traveling documents as their names were placed on ECL.
