‘No critical ICU care consultant at any hospital’: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore has said that some senior doctors were not conveying the true picture of hospitals to the chief minister Punjab. They said there wasn’t a single consultant of critical ICU care at any government hospital in Punjab, which is affecting critical patients brought to these facilities.
The unavailability of professionals in key medical departments was discussed in a meeting of PMA Lahore, said a press statement on Friday. The PMA said there was only one vascular surgeon, a rheumatologist and only one maxillofacial surgeon available in the whole province, which was bad for patients and was contributing towards their deterioration due to delays.
They stressed that salaries of the medical officers and resident doctors should be increased to Rs 80,000 and of the house officers to Rs 30,000.
