LHC Moved For Unsealing FIR Against Facebook
AN application has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking directions for unsealing of FIR against the owners of Facebook and their arrests through Interpol.
Applicant Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique prayed to the court to issue directions for the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to stop access to the blasphemous material on Internet in the country.
In his civil miscellaneous application filed in main petition seeking ban on Facebook which hosted a competition of blasphemous caricatures, Azhar submitted that as on the court directions an FIR on June 11, 2010 under Section 295-C of PPP was registered against the responsible but the authorities had sealed and action on it was also stopped. He said he wrote a letter to the Inspector General of Police requesting him to unseal the FIR, but in vain.
He requested the court to issue directions to the IGP for unsealing of the FIR and send its copy to him. He added that directions also should be issued for arrest of all accused in the FIR through Interpol.
