Taseer Awards Gilgit Hotel Worker For Honesty
Isa Khan, a worker of Serena Hotel, Gilgit, who returned a Japanese tourist his lost money worth $50,000, was awarded a medal by Punjab Governor Salman Taseer for his honesty.
In a ceremony held at the Governorís House on Wednesday, Salman Taseer paid rich tribute to Isa Khan for his honest act, saying he had raised the status of Pakistan as a nation among the global fraternity.
Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah was also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Taseer said Isa Khan’s strong grip on heart and mind had set an example, glorifying the name of the country. He added the act of honesty had won Isa Khan the attention of international media.
He said, “I am proud to be a Pakistani where people like Esa Khan live,” the he said. Overall, Pakistan is a country of honest, peaceful and genuine people, he added.
The governor said when he came to know about the rare show of integrity by Isa Khan, he could not help calling him to appreciate his truthful act.
He said Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani would also reward the honest Pakistani at a ceremony to be held on August 14.
Gilgit Baltistan chief minister Syed Mehdi Shah said he had come to Lahore in order to participate in the ceremony. He thanked the Punjab governor for acknowledging the character of a person from a small province like Gilgit Baltistan.
Later, Taseer awarded a medal and cash prize to Isa Khan for his honesty.
