Terrible Price Hike In Gulshan Ravi Sunday-Bazaar
LAHORE: A huge price hike in Sunday bazaars across Lahore has caused trouble for consumers, a private TV channel reported on Sunday.
At the Sunday bazaar in the Gulshan Ravi area, lemons were being sold at Rs 95 per kg, a Rs 25 rise in price, beans were being sold at Rs 128, a Rs 28 rise in price, green chillies at Rs 80, a Rs 40 rise, cabbages at Rs 70 per kg, an increase of Rs 35, spinach at Rs 28, an increase of Rs 18, grapes at Rs 170 per kg, an increase of Rs 60, apricots at Rs 90, a Rs 75 increase, and chonsa mangos at Rs 80, an increase of Rs 15, the channel said.
Monsoon: A shortage of ghee also caused trouble for consumers. Sugar was being sold at Rs 61 per kg. Several consumers quarrelled with sellers as they were being sold flour of a poor quality. Member of the National Assembly Mian Margoob visited the Gulshan Ravi Sunday bazaar and said that the monsoon was the main reason behind the hike in prices. On the other hand, District Coordination Officer Sajjad Bhutta has dismissed the secretary of the Gulshan Ravi market committee, Muhammad Akhtar, and the market inspector, Muhammad Saleem, after having received complaints about their negligence, the channel reported.
