PUNJAB Minister for Education Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that with a view to ensure provision of quality education, a culture of appreciation and accountability will be introduced in education department on the basis of results of Metric, 5th and 8th class examination.

He said the EDOs (Education) showing best performance in achieving the targets of universal primary enrolment and completing rationalisation of staff by August 14, 2010 would also be rewarded.

He expressed these views while addressing the provincial EDOs (Education) conference at Directorate Staff Development, according to a handout here on Wednesday. Secretary School Education Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, DPI (SE) Mian Abdul Haq and DPI(EE) Ch Rasheed Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.

The minister said the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was investing maximum financial resources in education sector so that literacy rate could be enhanced. Now it is moral duty of teachers to play a pivotal role in development of government schools and restore confidence of the people in public sector schools.

It will be done on the basis of sanctioned teaching posts as a vacancy can be filled any moment through transfer or recruitment.
