BISE Employees Stage Demo For Raise
THE employees of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore, staging a demonstration on Thursday criticised the board management for not implementing federal government’s decision of 50 percent ad hoc increase in salaries.
They protested and demanded the government take notice of the issue and provide relief to them. An official of the Punjab Higher Education Department, the controlling authority of education boards of the province, said it was likely that the board employees might be given 35 percent increase in salaries as they had been enjoying 15 percent increased salaries than other government employees over the years.
Similarly, the faculty members and staff of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) have been expressing concerns against the varsity administration for not awarding the recent 50 percent pay raise.
It is learnt that the LCWU administration had been finding it difficult to provide the same to its employees owing to substantial cut in budgetary allocation of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) which subsequently has been creating problems for varsities to meet their expenses.
