LCWU’s Student Nominated For PPI Awards
Lahore: Lahore College for Women University’s PhD scholar nominated for one of the Pulp and Paper Industry’s most prestigious awards. This PPI Award is Organized by RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, the PPI Awards program honors leadership, vision, modernism and strategic accomplishments within the pulp and paper industry.
Naila Yaqoob has been short-listed for the research achievement for the 2010 Pulp & Paper International (PPI) Awards. The competition was among the pulp and paper scientists, engineers and researchers from allover the world.
Only three competitors have been short-listed as finalists in this category. Every finalist is awarded a “Finalist Logo” and the winner’s name will be disclosed on Nov 16, 2010 at the PPI award ceremony in Brussels, Belgium.
HEC aboriginal Fellow Ms Yaqoob has been working on her PhD thesis under the supervision of LCWU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mateen and varsity’s faculty of natural sciences dean Prof Dr Kausar Jamal Cheema. She is also lecturer in LCWU. The research work was conducted at LCWU, Packages Limited (Pulp and Paper Mill), Pakistan, and University of Tasmania, Australia.
PPI award was launched in 2009 and the inaugural PPI Awards were a celebration of the best in class and provided an opportunity for pulp and papermakers worldwide to show off their achievements on a global platform.
Based on the positive feedback from the industry last year, RISI has decided to organize the PPI Awards again in 2010.
