THE students’ delegation, comprising position holders, returned to Pakistan on Monday night after a study tour of different European countries.

Punjab Minister for Education Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman received the delegation at the Lahore Airport while Secretary Higher Education Ahad Khan Cheema and Secretary School Education Muhammad Aslam Kamboh were also present.

Talking to reporters the position holders said the Punjab chief minister by sending them on a study tour to European countries had provided them with an opportunity to know about the facts of economic self-sufficiency, industrial development and education system of these countries.

“We have come back Pakistan with a new thinking that we will play an active role in the progress and prosperity of the country by making observations and experiences of our tour as guiding principles,” they added.

A student from Sukkur, Mazhar Hussain, said he had returned with the pledge that if nations of Europe could become great, why Pakistan could not become a great country. Ayesha Gillani said that during her visit to Europe, she came to know about the drawbacks of Pakistani educational system and better educational system of European countries. She said in Europe great attention was being paid to research and practical in the educational process.

Awais Khalid of Kohat said that he had retuned Pakistan with the hope that he would make efforts to bring positive changes in the country.

Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman said the position holder students were future of the county and were real national asset. He said that by reserving the newly constructed building in Punjab House Murree for educational purposes and sending high achievers abroad, the chief minister had added a brilliant chapter in the educational history of Pakistan.

The minister also announced that the Punjab government would provide financial assistance to five talented students for studying abroad.
