PU Research Budget
PUNJAB University (PU) has risen spending on research from the previous Rs 4 million to Rs 50 million in the current year’s budget.
Addressing students, research workers and senior faculty members after inaugurating a newly-upgraded computer laboratory in the Department of Mathematics, New Campus here on Thursday, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran added this was done to promote high quality research work in the varsity
He said state-of the-art facilities and equipment was being installed in PU laboratories to facilitate advance studies as well as to promote research work. He said presently there were 641 regular faculty members in PU out of which only 33.7 per cent were PhD scholars. He said it was his mission and dream to bring this ratio to at least 70 to 80 per cent so that varsity could play an exemplary leadership role in boosting academic and research work.
