Fans Pay Homage To Rafi On Death Anniversary
Fans from around the world pay rich tribute to legendary Indian playback singer Mohammad Rafi on his 30th death anniversary. Rafi sang over 26,000 songs in different languages.
Mohammed Rafi was born on December 24, 1924 in Kotla Sultan Singh, a village near Amritsar in Punjab. Rafi’s first public performance on radio came at the age of 14 when he was introduced by Rafique Nizami. Rafi, under Shyam Sunder, made his debut as a playback singer in the duet “Soniye nee, Heeriye nee” with Zeenat Begum in the Punjabi film Gul Baloch. In 1944, Rafi moved to Mumbai, where he sang his first song for the 1945 film Gaon ki Gori. Yahoo webpage was also named after the popularity of Muhammad Rafi’s song. Rafi achieved unbelievable milestones in his carrier. He died on July 31, 1980.
