First Look: Guzaarish
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s forthcoming film ‘Guzaarish’ is special in more ways than one. Firstly, it is Sanjay’s first film as a music director! Yes, the renowned director turns music director in this film. “There are 8 songs in this one. I gave the music because this film is not your film made for commercial reasons. It’s a special film and I thought I had a better idea of the character and the story so gave the music” said Sanjay.
Secondly, Aishwarya has apparently smoked for the first time in her life and career in this film. Recalling the scene which can be seen in the promo Ash said with a smirk, “You saw what happened to me when I attempted smoking. It’s for all to see. I coughed and almost had tears in my eyes.” Hrithik on the contrary exclusively revealed to us that he took to smoking especially for this film…to get into the skin of his character – a magician who becomes paraplegic. Looks like it was Hrithik who gave Ash some tips on the art of smoking.
On the launch of the film’s trailer, Hrithik said, “It is one of the most difficult roles that I have essayed till date. I have not done anything so life altering before. Playing a paraplegic was traumatic.”
The film which is slated to release on November 19th this year is a story of a petitioner Ethan Mascarenhas (Hrithik Roshan), a well known magician. In the year 1995, Ethan meets with an accident while performing one of his magic tricks which makes him a paraplegic. The film is based on the life of Ethan post his accident which is ‘happy’ according to Hrithik.
Guzaarish is set in Goa. The film has been brilliantly shot by Sudeep Chatterjee, co-written by Bhavani Iyer and looks international in terms of its art direction, story telling and performances. The film’s promo looks superb and so does the magical pair of Hrithik and Ash. The film’s posters however reminded us of Bhansali’s previous film Saawariya.
