Scarlett`s Beautiful: Arjun Rampal
Cheers… it doesn’t get more heady and sparkling than this!
Arjun Rampal and Scarlett Johansson picking grapes, sipping champagne, discussing cinema over dinner in Epernay, France. The Rajneeti and We Are Family Bollywood hunk later said of the sexy Vicky Cristina Barcelona and He’s Just Not That Into You Hollywood diva, “We got along like a house on fire. Scarlett’s humble, real, she’s very grounded, and her sense of humour… she cracked me up a lot!”
This is the same actress that Hollywood’s legendary cinema man Woody Allen, with whom Scarlett made three films, once said about, “She’s sexually overwhelming. And it’s hard to be extra witty around a sexually overwhelming, beautiful, young woman who is wittier than you are.” Now Arjun confirmed Scarlett’s sex appeal and wit: “She’s really beautiful and remarkable, but easy to strike a conversation with. Actors around the world speak the same language. We have the same passions and interests. We are real people. There’s the image, of course, but Scarlett had no ego. She was loads of fun.”
They met at Epernay in France, home of Moet & Chandon — the champagne of cinema and movie stars, and participated in the grape harvesting ceremony there that has been made famous in such films as Keanu Reeves’s A Walk In The Clouds. Scarlett is an old and experienced hand at picking grapes in the premier-cru vineyards here, but for Arjun it was the first time, and the Hollywood-meets-Bollywood event turned out to be a celebration of cinema over a red carpet champagne dinner held deep below in the cellars! “They popped 1948, 1952, 1971 limited edition, vintage bottles in our honour,” said Arjun.
Now back to Bollywood, where he’s got Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One to complete, Arjun Rampal’s turned a champagne drinker and Scarlett Johansson fan. The Hollywood actress, he revealed, knows about Bollywood and would like to act in a Hindi film one day. “It would be interesting to do a merger,” he said. Scarlett loved India had actually turned down an invitation to the Academy Awards in 2008 to accept an Oxfam tour of the country and raise the world’s awareness of those living below the poverty line here. “That speaks volumes of her character,” Arjun said.
