Scott Speedman is in negotiations to join Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum in “The Vow,” a romantic drama from Spyglass and Screen Gems.

Michael Sucsy, who helmed HBO’s “Grey Gardens,” is directing.

“Vow” tells the real-life story of a newlywed New Mexico couple (McAdams and Tatum) who are in a car crash. The wife is put in a coma, where she is cared for by her devoted husband. When she comes to without any memory of her husband or their marriage, the husband woos her and attempts to wins her heart again.

Speedman will play McAdams’ former fiance, with whom she begins to rekindle a romance in her amnesiac state.

Sucsy is rewriting the script for the movie, which will begin shooting next month in Toronto.

Spyglass’ Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber and Jonathan Glickman are producing with Paul Taublieb.

Spyglass and Screen Gems will co-finance and distribute the film, which is the first time the companies have collaborated on a film project.

The Canadian actor, repped by WME and D/F Management, next appears in “Barney’s Version” with Paul Giamatti, Dustin Hoffman and Rachelle Lefevre. The movie will screen at the Venice and Toronto film festivals. Speedman’s other film credits include “The Strangers” and “Underworld: Revolution.”
