Dacoit Killed in ‘Encounter’
AN alleged dacoit was shot dead in a police encounter in the Shadbagh area on Wednesday while his accomplice was arrested.
The two accused were identified as Asim and Arslan. The Shadbagh SHO said that a patrolling police team received a call regarding a robbery near the China Chowk after which they reached there and signaled two fleeing men to stop. After which, one of them, Asim, ran away while his accomplice Arslan was arrested by the police party.
He said that when the police party moved from the spot, Asim came there and opened fire on the police party, a constable retaliated and accused received a bullet in his right leg. He said Asim died due to bleeding while he was being shifted to hospital. The body was shifted to morgue for autopsy.
Man killed on road: A 30-year-old man was run over and killed by a speeding car in the jurisdiction of City Raiwind police on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Qurban, a resident of Kahna. Police said the victim was crossing a road near Railway Lines, Raiwind, when a speeding car hit and injured him. The car driver managed to escape from the scene. Locals shifted the injured man to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police handed over the body to his family. No case was registered against the car driver till the filing of this report.
Woman’s body found: THE mutilated body of a 35-year-old woman was found from the BRB Canal in the City Raiwind police area on Wednesday.
Police said that the deceased, unidentified so far, was murdered by some unidentified person/s who later dumped her body in the canal.
Some locals spotted her body stuck along a bank of BRB Canal and informed the police about it. Police removed the body to morgue.
A murder case has also been registered against unidentified killer/s.
Girl found dead: A 13-year-old girl was found dead in mysterious circumstances in her house in the Lower Mall area on Wednesday.The deceased was identified as Sonia, a resident of Mohni Road. Police said she was found unconscious early in the morning after which her family members rushed her to hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. Doctors claimed that the victim ate some unhygienic food which caused her death. Police handed over the body to her family without autopsy.
Accident victim dies: A 40-year-old unidentified man succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Wednesday.
Police said the man had sustained severe injuries after a bike driven by a traffic warden hit him in the City Raiwind area some 10 days back. The traffic warden, Sarwar, also sustained injuries in the incident.
Police shifted the body to city morgue for autopsy. A case against the warden has also been registered with no arrest so far.
