Flood Affectees To Get Rs20,000 Cash Grant Before Eid: Shahbaz
Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that the disbursement of Rs20,000 cash grant to the flood-victims has begun.
During a press briefing in Lahore on Wednesday, Shahbaz said “delay in provision of funds by the federal government would slow down the provincial government’s efforts to reach out to all the flood-hit families with Eidi”.
“I asked the federal government during the meeting of Council of Common Interest (CCI) to step up the aid money for Punjab and utilize the Rs 50 billion of the Benazir Income Support Programme for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the affectees”, the CM told the mediamen.
CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said that half of flood relief will be provided by the provinces.
“Flood affected farmers will be provided with free fertilizers and seeds,” he said.
He added that the aid distribution process will start before Eid, and the provinces will be given relief as per the loss estimation. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani assured transparency of fund disbursement.
