Motorway Police Alerted To Challenges
NATIONAL Highways and Motorway Police Inspector General DR Wasim Kausar has directed the police officers to prepare themselves to meet the challenges posed by the worst monsoon-related disasters besides ensuring the smooth flow of traffic.
He was talking to the officers while visiting national highways at Lahore. DIG Syed Ibne Hussain was also present. Dr Wasim said the recent rains had resulted in an alarming situation and hit hard national highways and motorways. He said the widespread flood had affected bridges and roads and landslides had blocked major road links. He said the level of water in dams and barrages across the country continued to rise while flood in low-lying areas of national highways and motorways could deteriorate the situation within days. He said the stranded people needed to be evacuated so it was essential that the motorways police officers used every possible resource towards this end.
