PPP Lahore To Meet Today To Act Against Flood Crisis
LAHORE: A meeting of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Lahore chapter has been called by Chaudhry Muhammad Asghar Gujjar today (Tuesday) in order to evolve a fresh strategy to deal with the flood crisis.
Talking to Daily Times, PPP Lahore President Asghar Gujjar said the country was facing a “seriously disastrous situation” due to the recent wave of floods, adding that all party leaders including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani were busy tackling the crisis personally and working day and night to help the flood affectees.
He said the PPP Lahore had setup a relief camp at The Mall and had dispatched more than 40 trucks full of relief items for the flood-affected areas across the province of Punjab, as well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The PPP Lahore president said he had called the party meeting to decide to continue the party’s relief camp and evolving a new strategy for enhancing efforts to collect relief fund through a door-to-door campaign in the city.
Asghar further informed that they would also review the situation of flood warnings in the side areas of the Ravi River from the city administration and would activate the party zones for spreading awareness in the masses about the flood situation in their areas. staff report
