PPP Lahore To Set Up 25 Additional Flood-relief Camps
LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Lahore chapter has announced to constitute 25 additional flood-relief camps at the zonal level to collect aid from party leaders and workers on the eve of Eidul Fitr.
This was announced by PPP Lahore President Chaudhry Asghar Gujjar while presiding over a party meeting held at the relief camp set up at Regal Chowk on Monday.
All office-bearers of the PPP Lahore, including Secretary Akbar Khan, Finance Secretary Hafiz Ikhlaq, around 25 zonal presidents of the city, four district presidents and other prominent provincial leaders were present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Asghar told the members that the party had collected around 30 trucks loaded with relief items and hundreds of thousands of rupees for the help of flood-affected people and the aid would be sent to President Asif Ali Zardari who would distribute it among the affectees soon.
He also paid tribute to the party leaders and workers who had given a good amount to the party following the call of the president. He also encouraged locals to share their happy moments with the affected people through their aid during Eid celebrations.
PPP Lahore Women’s Wing President Faiza Malik told the meeting that her wing had already dispatched two trucks loaded with relief items to Muzaffargarh and now the wing was ready to dispatch two more trucks to other flood affectees in the province. Later, talking to Daily Times, Asghar said that flood-relief camps at zonal level would be established from September 1.
