PTI Flays Govt For Resolution
THE Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has condemned the act of Punjab government for tabling a resolution against the media in the Punjab Assembly and termed the move a ploy to deflect public attention from critical national issues like terrorism.
Flanked by President PTI Punjab Ahsan Rashid and party leaders including Admiral (Retd) Javed Iqbal, Saloni Bokhari and others, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema, PTI Secretary Information, said Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and his cronies had once again been exposed due to this controversial move.
He added this episode amply demonstrated the total collapse of discipline within PML N and the ramshackle leadership of Mian brothers. He said PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif had vowed publicly to bring about disciplinary action against the instigators of the resolution but just like the fateful Bhurban declaration he miserably failed to live up to his own words. Omar asserted the way he had genuflected before the defiance of Sanaullah Masti Khel Group clearly betokened the end of his political career.
He further stated if Nawaz Sharif couldn’t fulfill promises made to the nation, he better quit politics. Cheema added the way the resolution was unanimously passed by all the parties in the assembly clearly betrayed their undemocratic mindset and none of these pseudo champions of democracy could afford independence of media, judiciary and the election commission.
Expressing solidarity with media, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema said Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf stood shoulder to shoulder with the media fraternity in this war for their independence and demands immediate and unconditional withdrawal of this scandalous resolution and impresses upon the Government to eschew its hypocritical policies pertaining to the independence of the media.
Besides, he also condemned the dastardly assassination of Secretary General BNP Habib Jalib Baloch and expressed heartfelt grief over this tragedy and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
On behalf of party Chairman Imran Khan, he demanded immediate nabbing of the perpetrators of this heinous crime and exhorted the government to rein in the wave of target killings in the province and take effective measures to the effect. Nadeem Qadir Bhindar, Mian Khalid Yousuf and Barrister Mansoor Khan were also present.
