LAHORE: Seven people, including a police constable, were killed in various incidents in the provincial capital on Tuesday.

In the first incident, a five-year-old boy was shot dead when two young men, during a fight, opened fire on each other in the Shafiqabad police precincts.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Rehman, son of Shakeel, a resident of Kasurpura. Police said that two locals namely Ahmad alias Machine and Faisal alias Guddu were fighting with each other over some unknown issue, when the victim’s father Shakeel tried to stop them, but they opened fire on each other. Shakeel escaped unharmed, but his son him sustained two bullet wounds in his legs. After this, both accused escaped the scene. Shakeel rushed his injured son to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Later, police moved the body to the city morgue for autopsy. Shafiqabad police have registered a murder case against Ahmed and Faisal on the complaint of the deceased’s father, with no arrests having been made until the filing of this report.

Als, a 22-year-old youth was stabbed to death by his brother-in-law over some domestic issue in Baghbanpura police precincts on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Nadeem, resident of Lakhudair Baghbanpura. Police said the victim’s brother-in-law Naveed used to torture his wife, after which she came to her brother (Nadeem). A case was also pending in the Civil Court in this regard. On the day of the incident, Nadeem came to meet Naveed at his shop where they scuffled with each other and Naveed killed Nadeem with a sharp-edged weapon. Police arrested Naveed after registering a murder case against him on the complaint of the deceased’s father Abdul Rasheed.

Also, a four-year-old child lost his life after he sustained severe burns after falling into boiling milk in Factory area police precincts. The deceased was identified as Pervaiz, son of Amjad, a resident of Walton Road. Police said the victim was playing in the kitchen when he accidentally fell into a boiling milk pot. His family members rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his burns. Police handed over the body to his family after fulfilling the legal formalities.

A three-year-old child lost his life after he fell down from his house rooftop in Shahdra Town police precincts. The deceased was identified as Zeeshan, son of Iqbal, a resident of Main Bazaar. Police said the victim was playing on his rooftop with other children when he accidentally fell down to the street below and sustained multiple injuries. His family members rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Also, an 18-year-old girl committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in Shadbagh area on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Nageena, daughter of Hanif of Shadbagh. Police said the girl got dejected after being admonished by her parents over a domestic issue. She locked herself in a room and took poisonous pills, resulting in her death.

Driving into: Separately, a 45-year-old police constable died after he ran into a donkey-cart in Shafiqabad police precincts on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Jamil, who was going back home on his bike after finishing his duty when he accidentally ran into a donkey-cart, as a result of which he received severe injuries. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital where he passed away.

Meanwhile, a 40-year-old woman was crushed to death by a speeding rickshaw in the jurisdiction of the Shahdara Town police. Police said the deceased, yet to be identified, was crossing the main road when a speeding rickshaw hit her, as a result of which she sustained severe injuries. However, the rickshaw driver managed to escape from the crime scene. Locals shifted her to a nearby hospital where she yielded to her injuries.
