Thunderstorm Leaves 26 Dead


At least 26 people including 13 children have been killed in thunderstorm that hit Islamabad, southern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa, South Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Friday and heavy rain has been continued in these areas.
Heavy rains with gusty winds battered Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura and other cities of southern Punjab. Stormy winds toppled electric poles, signboards and trees in various areas that caused severe traffic jams.
At least 13 casualties have been reported so far in weather-related accidents in Lahore, Gujranwala and Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa. Most of the casualties were occurred as the roofs or walls of the houses were collapsed.
The thunderstorm was caused by monsoon winds coming from the West and the rainfall with gusty winds may continue in next four days.
