Traffic Police Announces Independence Day Plan
LAHORE: The City Traffic Police has announced a comprehensive traffic plan to reduce the hassle for citizens at busy intersections and public places on Independence Day.
According to the traffic plan, 10 deputy superintendents, 50 senior traffic wardens and 1,723 traffic wardens will be on duty during the day. The deputy inspector general (DIG) of the Traffic Police, Tariq Masood Yaseen, directed traffic officials to take strict action against people doing stunts on motorcycles.
Curb: The police will also attempt to curb hooliganism and wild Independence Day celebrations, due to the ongoing flood crisis in the country. The government has already announced that it will not organise any lighting or celebrations in the current crisis. The DIG has directed traffic wardens to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and to not allow people to park in the wrong places, which can also cause traffic jams. The City Traffic Police will also arrange special duties in different parts of the city to control young people doing stunts on motorcycles. The police has also requested that citizens, especially youth, avoid noisy and disruptive activities, keeping in mind that the country is in mourning.
