By reciting this dua, one seeks Allah's favor for the evening and seeks refuge from any potential harm or evil that may come during the night.
أَمْسَيْنَا وَأَمْسَى الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ فَتْحَهَا وَنَصْرَهَا وَنُورَهَا وَبَرَكَتَهَا وَهُدَاهَا وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِيهَا وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهَا
(Amsayna wa-amsal-mulku lillahi rabbil-AAalameen, allahumma innee as-aluka khayra hathal-yawm, fat-hahu, wanasrahu, wanoorahu, wabarakatahu, wahudahu, wa-aAAoothu bika min sharri ma feehi, washarri ma baAAdah.)
We have reached the evening and at this very time all sovereignty belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day, its triumphs and its victories, its light and its blessings and its guidance, and I take refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil that follows it.
ہم اور سارا ملک اللہ ہی کے لیے ہے جو رب العالمین ہے، شام کے وقت داخل ہوئے۔ اے اللہ! میں تجھ سے اس رات کی بہتری یعنی اس رات کی فتح اور مدد اور اس رات کے نور و برکت اور ہدایت کا سوال کرتا ہوں، اور تجھ سے پناہ چاہتا ہوں اُن چیزوں کے شر سے جو اس رات میں ہیں اور جو اس کے بعد ہوں گی۔
