Design and Display
The LG Q Stylus has a sleek and sturdy design. The phone is certified according to the MIL-STD-810G and IP68 standards. The phone has a comfortable-to-hold plastic back and a metal frame. The phone’s front has a 6.2-inch IPS screen with a 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution. The display has a 2:1 aspect ratio and thin bezels, giving it an 80% screen-to-body ratio. With good viewing angles and contrast, the display is clear, bright, and vivid.
Performance and Storage
The LG Q Stylus is powered by a MediaTek MT6750S processor, which is an octa-core chip clocked at 1.5 GHz. The processor is combined with 32 GB of internal storage that can be increased with a microSD card slot, as well as 3 GB of RAM. The phone has LG’s own UI on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. For routine things like surfing, messaging, social media, and streaming, the phone performs admirably. The phone, however, lags and struggles when performing heavy multitasking or playing games. The phone also heats up quickly when running demanding apps or games.
Camera System
Both the rear and front cameras of the LG Q Stylus are 16 megapixels in resolution. Both cameras can shoot videos in 1080p quality and have an f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera also has phase detection autofocus and an LED flash. However, in low-light situations, the camera quality deteriorates significantly, as it produces noisy and blurry photos with poor dynamic range. The front camera is decent for selfies and video calls, as it can capture natural-looking photos with good skin tones and exposure. However, there are low-light performance problems with the front camera as well.
Battery and Connectivity
The phone’s battery life is decent at best. The phone’s 3300 mAh battery can sustain moderate use for a day, however it does not enable wireless charging. The phone supports rapid charging via a USB-C connector. The phone has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and GLONASS for connectivity. The phone’s audio output is, at best, subpar. One bottom-firing speaker on the phone produces a tinny, distorted sound at loud settings.
